Denture Adhesive Advice
Denture adhesives are commonly prescribed as part of the denture-wearing process. They can improve comfort and work to reduce oral problems. Denture adhesives can be useful as a temporary fix; however, regularly needing adhesives is a common sign that your denture isn’t fitting properly in its place. Coorparoo Dental & Denture Clinic will make sure your denture is sitting well without the need for excessive adhesives.
Have Your Denture Corrected by Our Team
Dental adhesives shouldn’t be solely relied upon to keep your denture stable. An ill-fitting denture can do serious damage to your gums, so if you find yourself using denture adhesive on a regular basis, it’s best to visit your Denture Prosthetist for a review. Most commonly, issues with dentures are a simple matter of correcting the fitting surface or, in the case of partial dentures, tightening the clasps.
The knowledgeable team at Coorparoo Dental & Denture Clinic will correct any problems with your dentures quickly and efficiently. Your comfort is our priority, and we want to make sure your dentures are functioning perfectly.
When To Use Dental Adhesives
Denture adhesives increase stability and retention in dentures while decreasing the accumulation of food beneath dentures. They also improve your chewing ability, making the whole experience more pleasant for you. They also increase the comfort of using dentures, and this has shown a decrease in ulcers, inflammation and irritation in denture wearers using adhesives.
Using Adhesives Occasionally
In order to apply an adhesive, the denture must first be removed and cleaned free from all food debris, and it must be wet. After this, the adhesive is applied to the tissue-bearing part of the denture. The denture can then be placed back into the mouth and held firmly for 5-10 seconds, after which excessive adhesive should be removed.
